Vasek Hlavac

Vaclav Hlavac, born 1956, professor at the Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU), Prague, Czech Republic. He obtained MSc in control engineering from the CTU Prague in 1981; PhD student at the CTU in 1982, teaching position since 1983, PhD from the CTU in 1987; He has been leading the Center for Machine Perception of CTU since 1996, http://cmp.felk.cvut.cz and has been the deputy director of the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics of CTU since 2013, http://www.ciirc.cvut.cz. Research interests: computer vision, machine learning, autonomous robotics, and their industrial applications. He is the co-author of the one of bestselling computer vision textbooks Sonka M., Hlavac V., Boyle R.B.: Image Processing, Analysis, and Machine Vision, Cengage Learning Engineering, 2015 (4th edition). He led the NATO Science and Technology Organization Task Group SAS-097 Robots underpinning future NATO operations. He has been responsible partner for CTU in several EC funded projects, currently robotic projects TRADR, UP-Drive and RadioRoSo.
